# VoidCare 1.0.0-beta.17

Public beta · Windows x64 · 11 October 2026

## Start here

Extract the ZIP, then run VoidCare.exe. There is one application executable. Keep the included terms and third-party notices with redistributed copies. Run with standard access first; use the app's Elevate action only for a feature that needs it. Close older VoidCare instances before launching the new build.

The executable is unsigned. Windows may display a publisher/reputation warning. Verify the download's SHA-256 against the checksum supplied by the publisher. Do not disable Windows security protections to run this beta.

The app uses Microsoft Edge WebView2. The runtime must be available on the PC. Hardware and maintenance features target Windows x64; compatibility across Windows versions and configurations is still being tested. Windows Package Manager (winget) is needed for supported software update functions.

## Usage terms

Free for personal and internal business use. You may share the unmodified beta package without charge with its terms and notices. Source-code rights remain reserved. See USAGE-TERMS.txt; third-party components retain their own licences.

## New in beta 17

- Windows protections: read BitLocker/device-encryption volumes, encryption progress, protection and lock state without collecting recovery keys. Encryption progress and active protection are displayed separately.
- Check TPM readiness, Secure Boot, Defender antivirus/real-time protection and configured Windows firewall profiles. Missing providers are marked Unavailable, never assumed Off.
- Open Windows BitLocker, device-encryption and Windows Security management to review changes. Windows handles encryption enable/disable and recovery-key setup; VoidCare does not silently alter encryption, firmware or antivirus. Refresh after changes.

## Added in beta 16

- Game library: add an installed game .exe, search saved games, request launch and load a saved setup for review. Launch uses a validated local Windows executable with no arguments; elevated VoidCare cannot launch games. Storefront-managed games may need their normal launcher. Adding or launching never enables RAM/CPU tuning.
- Three game-session presets fill in target, pressure threshold and CPU preference for review. Automatic RAM trimming remains a separate choice.
- Download-page version badges in every capitalization, signature status and ZIP size now update from the release build. The downloads hub updates in the same publication, with backup, conflict checks and rollback.

## Added in beta 15

- Home lets you choose temporary files, software updates and registry references for Check my PC. Individual shortcuts still run their own check.
- Selected checks show each step, elapsed time and completed/failed/skipped states. Stop after this check waits for the active Windows request, then skips remaining checks; it does not abort an in-progress backend scan.
- Check reports can be copied locally, with backend error details omitted to avoid sharing personal paths. Failure cards identify the affected check and use an error icon.

## Added in beta 14

- On-demand gaming setup report brings display modes, memory headroom, session status, Game Mode, recording and power plan together. Partial read failures stay visible and results can be copied.
- Preference transfer copies seven supported appearance, RAM, storage and recovery choices. Imports are validated, reviewed and staged before saving; personal paths and automation are excluded.
- History filters by action type and age, copies filtered records with details excluded by default, and links actions to their related tool.
- Large registry reports reuse filtered results during progress updates. Background storage progress polls less often when the window is hidden. RAM process reads prevent duplicate requests; stale status polls cannot replace a newer session action.

## Added in beta 13

- Registry cleanup has visible Select all eligible and Clear selection buttons, with no 50-value review cap. Select all uses the current filters across every page.
- Findings use 200-row pages, including entries beyond the former 400-row display cutoff. A Selected references filter lets you inspect your whole selection.
- Larger cleanups show progress and allow stopping after the current reference. Each value is rechecked and backed up individually; administrator and investigation-only restrictions remain.

## Added in beta 12

- Fixed homepage software update checks failing when WinGet reports an installed version range such as < 174.0.0.13368. Other apps remain available; range-based versions are listed for separate updating.
- Homepage checks offer retry after failure and handle an empty update response.

## Added in beta 11

- Results and error notifications now occupy the sidebar and cannot cover tool-page buttons.
- What changed? has a redesigned snapshot workflow and shows installed/removed apps, version changes and added/removed startup entries, with counts, refresh and a copyable comparison.
- Storage Explorer and file-finder controls report Explorer/clipboard failures. A rejected clipboard write no longer produces a success message. Storage utility scope is explicit, and matching checkpoint comparisons are disabled.
- Startup, service, task and checkpoint actions prevent duplicate simultaneous submissions and show progress. Service changes consistently require administrator access in the UI; failed reads show an error. Service suggestions describe the actual changes without unsupported safety/performance claims.
- CPU-Z timing imports and diagnostic actions prevent duplicate requests. Capture-status polling cannot overwrite a newer start response.
- Frontend builds audit every button definition for a handler or form submission and check imported Go bindings against real backend methods. Simulated UI testing now rejects unknown actions instead of pretending success.

- Browser cleanup now reviews selected categories, reports recovery bytes separately and offers retry after a failed scan.

## Added in beta 10

- Save up to 20 named game setups with exact game/background executable paths, RAM threshold/target and optional Above normal priority. Load saved choices, then review and enable detection separately. Saving or loading never activates a session, and automation stays off on each launch.
- Missing saved games and background apps are shown explicitly. Start them and refresh, or remove missing background targets before enabling automatic RAM trimming. Runtime process identities are checked again when actions run.
- Pin up to six favourite tools on Home. Your shortcuts and their order survive app restarts, including choosing to unpin every tool.
- Tool pages load as separate bundles with a loading state, reducing initial UI code. Corrupt setup files are preserved and reported rather than replaced.

## Added in beta 9

- Gaming centre has a timer-resolution reading and an opt-in wait comparison. It compares 80 Windows Sleep(1) waits before and during a temporary 1 ms request from VoidCare, then releases the request. This does not measure game FPS or input latency and does not establish a benefit for other processes.
- Import single-game frame-time CSVs to compare average FPS, 1% lows, P95/P99 frame intervals, worst intervals and the share of frames over 50 ms. Supported millisecond columns: FrameTime, FrameTime(ms), Frame time (ms), MsBetweenPresents. Up to 16 MB and 250,000 rows, with at least 100 valid intervals. Mixed processes/swap chains and multiple interval columns are rejected.
- 1% low uses the inverse mean of the slowest 1% of intervals. Compare the same scene, settings and export metric. Results stay local, last until leaving Gaming centre, and can be copied. No game injection or capture driver is included.
- Missing timer-query data is no longer replaced with invented defaults. Gaming-quality scores were removed from timer diagnostics. Legacy timer requests are balanced, idempotent and released during normal shutdown; failed releases can be retried.
- Gaming configuration inspection no longer walks the Captures video folder. Advanced power/DNS actions reject duplicate concurrent submissions. Timing UI code loads when needed.

## Added in beta 8

- Clean up space remembers category checkboxes across launches, including an empty selection. Existing saved choices are not replaced by new browser-profile rules. File candidates are freshly reviewed after scanning.
- Scan and delete/clean actions appear at the top with a selected-item count and size; the same confirmation and execution flow is used at both ends of the page.
- Hardware summary groups all supplied temperature readings into CPU, graphics, motherboard, storage, memory and other sensors, with observed low/high values. Clock, fan, voltage, load and power readings are no longer limited to six rows.
- Automatic sensor polling keeps manual refresh buttons stable on Home and Your hardware. Failed reads preserve the last successful sample with an error and timestamp.

## Added in beta 7

- Expanded reviewed cleanup across Startup, Application paths, Uninstall icons, Shared DLLs, COM components and Fonts, with exact per-value backups and fresh target checks.
- Selected missing Run, App Paths, DisplayIcon, COM InprocServer32 DLL paths, DWORD shared DLL references and absolute font paths can be cleaned. Exact original data and type are saved before removal; recovery remains available after restarting VoidCare.
- Machine-wide changes require administrator access. Relative font filenames and ambiguous paths remain investigation only. Whole keys and installer records are not deleted. Recovery can also be exported as a Windows .reg file; in-app restoration refuses to overwrite replacement values. Older startup-only copies remain recoverable through Startup & background.
## Added in beta 6

- Cleanup presets for Temporary files, Browser caches, App caches and Routine care select categories before a reviewed scan.
- Cleanup discovers Chrome, Edge and Brave Default/Profile folders and Firefox local cache folders. Rules exclude browser logins, passwords, sessions, history and bookmarks and skip active browser processes.
- Homepage registry checks now cover the broader reference categories and carry findings into Registry cleanup.

## Included from beta 5

- One-click action bar at the top of Home: temporary-file scan, software update check, startup registry check, RAM controls, comparison snapshot, display settings, graphics settings and PC refresh.
- Check my PC runs the three read-only checks and shows individual findings, errors and timestamps. A failed check does not discard the other results.
- Review buttons carry scan results into Cleanup, Apps & updates or Registry cleanup without repeating the scan. No files or registry values are preselected by these checks.
- Comparison snapshots capture installed apps and startup entries locally for later investigation. They are not file backups or Windows restore points.

## Included from beta 4

- Rebuilt Home with hardware readings, reported temperatures, quick controls, task routes and a searchable complete toolkit.
- League-inspired navigation, spacing and shared page styling. Every tool displays its purpose and considerations before actions.
- Selectable registry findings, reviewed cleanup and immediate original-value restoration. Cleanup covers supported missing-file values in the six registry reference categories, with exact originals retained for recovery.
- Saved game RAM defaults, Gentle/Balanced/More headroom presets, observed results with timestamps and visible manual cooldown.
- Targeted manual RAM trims now record their result in History. Page navigation starts at the top of the destination.

## Earlier improvements

- Redesigned Home with live memory usage, a game-session status card, compact storage and recent activity.
- RAM trimming and game-session setup can be opened directly from Home. Process selection, review and active-game protections remain in place.
- Quick Windows Game Mode and background-recording preferences, with explicit On/Off, confirmation and original-value restoration.
- Stop a configured gaming session from Home and restore tracked process priority.
- Improved spacing, keyboard focus, reduced-motion support and responsive layouts.
- The canonical download page is https://dl.vrc.lol/voidcare (no trailing slash).

## Included in this beta

- Hardware explorer with component navigation, searchable details and copyable reports.
- Temperature cards and available fan/clock/power readings on the hardware summary. Shared sensor sampling refreshes every ten seconds while Summary or Sensors is open; it can be turned off.
- RAM module details and import of active timings from CPU-Z text reports.
- Storage explorer, reviewed cleanup with permanent-delete or quarantine choices, and recovery history.
- Explained Windows feature controls and restoration of recorded original values.
- Software update review, startup controls and diagnostic tools.
- Opt-in gaming sessions with selected-app RAM trimming and temporary Above normal process priority.

## Known limitations

- This is a beta, not a guarantee of stability, complete hardware support or improved game performance. Keep backups before maintenance. Permanent deletion cannot be undone through VoidCare.
- CPU, motherboard, RAM and non-NVIDIA GPU sensors require a running compatible Libre Hardware Monitor or Open Hardware Monitor WMI provider. No sensor driver is bundled. NVIDIA readings use the installed driver. Drive temperatures depend on Windows counters and permissions.
- Imported RAM timings are snapshots and can belong to another PC or an earlier configuration. Direct SPD/memory-controller timing collection is not implemented.
- Automatic game-session settings reset at every app launch. A forced exit/crash can leave a changed CPU priority until the game exits. Trimming RAM can cause apps to reload data and briefly slow down.
- Registry review checks documented file-reference locations, not the entire registry or Windows health. Only supported missing-file references in the six listed categories can be cleaned, with administrator access needed for machine-wide values. Relative font filenames remain investigation only; installer records and file associations are not removed. Scans stop at 50,000 references and report partial coverage.
- Browser caches cover discovered Default/Profile folders for Chromium browsers and local Firefox profile cache2 folders, with at most 100 profiles per browser. Portable/custom browser directories are not automatically discovered.
- Compatibility testing on other PCs remains outstanding. This release has been built and checked on the development PC and with simulated UI cases.

## Local data and network access

Settings, action history and recovery data are stored on the PC. Settings offers Open config folder. Hardware reports can include device details and paths; copied hardware reports omit network addresses. Review diagnostic reports before sharing them. Update checks, package operations, network diagnostics and explicitly opened links may contact external services. This beta does not provide an automatic bug-report upload service.

## Reporting a problem

Send the publisher the version (1.0.0-beta.11), Windows version, affected feature, reproduction steps, expected result, actual result and exact error text. Include relevant hardware for sensor issues and state whether the app was elevated. Redact personal paths, user names, IP addresses and unrelated logs. A public support URL has not yet been configured; the publisher should provide a contact alongside the download.

## Validation

Frontend compilation, Go tests and vet are required by the local beta build script. Dependency scans at preparation time reported no known reachable Go vulnerabilities and no npm production dependency vulnerabilities. These checks are not a security audit or a substitute for testing on other PCs.

NEW IN BETA 3
- Software removal workspace: searchable/sortable inventory, vendor uninstall, explicit removal verification, reviewed exact-name data folders, recovery or permanent deletion, and per-file error reporting. Shared publisher folders and unrelated registry keys are excluded. No universal complete-removal guarantee is made.
- Targeted registry cleanup moves a confirmed missing HKCU Run startup reference to RunDisabled. Restore it in Startup & background. Unavailable drives and changed entries are rejected.
- RAM target (256 MB to 8 GB, or all selected apps), game-start pressure threshold (70–95%, default 85%), last-trim result on Home. Targets stop between processes, so actual reduction can overshoot or fall short and can be temporary.
- Redesigned download hub and expanded product page with setup, release notes, feature scope and FAQ.
